미국 원주민 보호구역 아리조나 투바시티에서 원주민들을 섬기는 이영호, 이선옥 선교사입니다.

Greetings in our Lord Jesus Christ.
This is pastor Young & Sun Lee who're serving Native Americans in Tuba City Arizona.
8월에는 여름날씨의 모든 것을 경험했습니다.
원래의 불가마 더위, 습한 장마 더위, 구름이 많이 껴서 해는 좀 막아줬지만 습도가 높아 (30% 정도, 그러나 워낙 건조한 지역이라 더 심한 느낌.) 찜통더위, 이럴 땐 바람도 덥습니다. 게다가 꽤 종종 내린 비까지...
그런데 8월의 끝자락에서는 그 시원한 바람이 돌아오는군요.
이곳의 뜨거운 태양은 일 년 내내 변함없지만 이제 여름은 저만치 물러가고 있습니다.
We have experienced all kinds of summer weather in August.
Typical baking heat, steamy monsoon heat, even with cloud which blocked beating sun, due to high humidity (30% is relatively high here), in this condition the breeze itself is very warm, and quite often rain.
Now the cool breeze came back in the end of the month.
The strong sun will be here throughout the four seasons, but summer is retreating over there.
올 연말연시 12-1월에 약 한 달 정도 자리를 비우게 될 거 같습니다.
그래서 뜬금없는 생각을 한 번 해봅니다.
혹시 이곳에서 “한달살이” 해보실 분이 계실지...
그랜드 캐년, 앤털롭 캐년, 글렌 캐년 댐, 레익 파월, 홀슈 벤드, 모뉴먼트 밸리 등이 60-90마일 거리에 위치해있습니다. (Tuba City AZ)
물론 언급되지 않은 특별한 경험이 있을 수 있습니다.
Star Link 인터넷 연결망을 비롯한 (자동차를 제외한) 기본적인 필수용품은 이곳에 준비되어 있습니다.
뜬금없이 마음이 동하는 분이 계시다면 연락 주십시오.
We will be out of town for one month in coming December and January.
So, I have a random thought which may not be so plausible.
Is there, by any chance, anyone who'd like to spend a month here?
Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon, Glen Canyon Dam, Lake Powell, Horse Shoe Bend, Monument Valley, and etc are located in 60-90 miles range from here, Tuba City AZ.
Of course there are some more un-mentioned meaningful things.
We have some necessities including Star Link internet connection (but no car).
Please let me know if anyone compulsively being interested in.
목회 사역
8월 한 달간 다섯 번의 주일에 Bitter Springs Baptist에서 네 번 말씀을 전했습니다.
한 번은 그들에게 자진 예배와 나눔의 기회를 주었으며 저는 동네 이웃교회에서 예배드렸습니다.

3월 23일부터 로마서 강해(좀 더 자세히 읽기, 혹은 읽기 도우미 수준)를 시작해서 이번 주에 15장까지 마쳤고 다음 주면 드디어 마치게 됩니다.
무언가 계획적으로 시작해서 끝까지 마친다는 것이 이곳에서는 보통 어려운 일이 아닙니다.
그런데 저도 그렇고 교우들도 그렇게 계획한 것을 중도에 자의, 혹은 타의로 포기하지 않고 끝까지 마친다는 것에 크게 고무되고 있습니다.
나 자신의 영어수준과 평신도들의 적응에 있어서 생각보다 힘에 겨운 적도 있었습니다.
성경 영어가 의외로 복잡하더군요.
특히 8장, 11장까지의 교리 강론에서 더더욱 그랬습니다.
그러나 와중에 성도들이 자진해서 예배 전에 성경읽기를 시작하여 지금 창세기를 읽고 있습니다. (참석자 개개인이 한 장씩 읽는다는군요.)
저는 이것을 아주 귀하게 평가하며 힘내서 줄곧 잘 하라고 엄청 격려하고 있습니다.
로마서 강해 준비는 이미 마쳤기 때문에 이어서 신앙인의 기초에 해당되는 교재를 재편집해서 선교카페에 게시중인데 이것도 거의 마쳤습니다.

교재 편집자로서 저는 이 교재가 완벽하다기 보다는 생각을 시작하는 단계로 제시하면서 각자가 성령님의 인도 아래 신앙의 지식과 확신, 그리고 순종을 키워나가시기를 바라는 마음입니다.
PASTORAL MINISTRY
I shared four times at Bitter Springs Baptist over five Sundays in August.
On one occasion, I offered them a voluntary worship and sharing opportunity, and I attended a service at a local church.

I started my exposition of Romans (reading in more detail, or at the reading aid level) on March 23rd, and I finished up to chapter 15 this week, and just one more to go in the next Sunday.
It's not usually easy to start something with a plan and finish it.
Therefore, I'm greatly encouraged that both I and the congregation are completing this plan without giving up on the way, either voluntarily or involuntarily.
There were times when I found it more challenging than I expected, both in terms of my own English proficiency and in helping lay people adapt.
The English of the Bible (NIV) was surprisingly complex.
This was especially true in the doctrinal sections up to chapters 8 and 11.
However, during this time, the congregation began reading the Bible on their own before worship, and they are currently reading Genesis. (I heard each attendee reads a chapter.)
I highly value their effort and am strongly encouraging them to keep up the good work.
Since I've already completed the book of Romans, I'm currently re-editing the BASICS OF CHRISTIAN LIFE AND FAITH and posting it on the Mission Cafe. (It will be finished in anytime.)

MARKET MINISTRY with Free Acupuncture and Booklet Ministry
In the month of August, I canceled one and went out four market ministries, and served 57 acupuncture treatments and 16 booklet ministries.
Various weather conditions hindered the ministry.
